Is Sea Lemon a holosexual you ask? Well I think I may be a holosexual paper hoarder — I can't stop collecting holo paper! Here's a bookbinding tutorial on how to make a smaller size hardcover book using case binding! I realize this tutorial is long and more time-consuming than most book projects, but I wanted to show you how to make a legit casebound notebook using this holographic paper. You are welcome to make your own variations :)
SUPPLIES:
• 16 sheets letter size 25lb. paper
• 1 sheet letter size cardstock
• 12x12" holo/decorative paper (found at Michaels)
• Scrap paper
• Wax paper
• Board -
• Book press or weights -
• Bone folder
• Ruler -
• Cutting mat
• Utility blade, craft knife, scissors
• Sewing needle & thread
• Awl or thumbtack
• PVA or book glue -
• Glue brush
• Extra strength glue stick -
• Ribbon (optional)
• Drafting triangle (optional)
• Paper trimmer I used -
COVER TIP:
If you're using thick fabric instead of paper for the cover, you should add the width of it (ex. 2mm) to the "hinge width". This will compensate for the thickness and allow the cover to still hang over the text block. For fabric, try this tutorial to make it glue easier to your board: DIY Book Cloth -
